Designing of the Pilot Seminar “Entrepreneurial Spirit” within the
Framework of the Pilot Project “Taking the Economy Into Schools”
- Objectives and Description
Insight into the economy and the world of business should not be gained
only after students have completed their Advanced Level examinations
and are ready for college or work. On the initiative of the BMBF and
the Deutsche Börse AG (the German Stock Exchange PLC) and financed by
the Deutsche Bank AG and the BMBF, a seminar was set up and consequently
held in the Deutsche Bank training centre in Kronberg from 26-28 August
1998. It was entitled “Entrepreneurial Spirit.” It was directed towards
teachers of secondary schools throughout the country. Its very first
gambit dealt with the political and economic significance of company
activities. The first and second day of the seminar was, however, primarily
concerned with the practical implementation of entrepreneurial talents
and abilities against the backcloth of simulated activities and management
games (“EVa”). On the third day material, which could be used in the
classroom, was discussed, a business plan drafted and case studies examined.
Following on from the seminar, all its preparations and the experience gained during the actual holding of the workshop were meticulously documented. This documentation included the collating of teaching material resulting from the workshop activities and the seminar experience, information which could be of great benefit for pupils.
The project partners and sponsors were BMWI, the Deutsche Bank AG, the Deutsche Börse AG (German Stock Exchange PLC) and the Deutsche Aktieninstitut e.V (German Institute of Stocks and Shares); The seminar was held in Kronberg/Taunus.
